He Was Some Kind of a Man

Today is the anniversary of The Great One's death. There's a new 50th Anniversary Edition of Touch of Evil (with the late Charlton Heston), but still no Ambersons DVD, and no release of any kind for The Other Side of the Wind. There's still hope and lots of chatter among other Welles fans that TOSotW will be released.

I remain, as always, your obedient servant.

I wonder if the lost "Magnificent Ambersons" footage restored, or will they at least read dialogue in concert with the storyboards like Pixar does with their outtakes that they don't animate.

It'll be interesting to see if they do anything to Ambersons other than clean it up. I've seen some stills of the missing end sequence and I think I saw the script pages somewhere, so they could do something like what you suggest.

There were rumors a while back that the first cut of Ambersons was found in Buenos Aires (where Welles edited it while directing "It's All True"), but I don't know how those panned out. Well, if they found a full cut of Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS, I guess anything is possible.
